Still-Life Drawing

For my piece, I used objects from the art room because this is an art class so it makes sense to draw. I used one small jar of black ink, a vase, and a bottle of pink paint. To create my artwork, I used different lines. Not just thin and thick, light and dark. I made lines in different directions to get a textural feeling. My goal as an artist to better myself was to get bigger with my proportions and to get lighter shades. I feel like I got better with this. I've never been at the ideal drawing level I've wanted to, but I feel like I really did do this decent to me. Compared to others no, but really a big jump from what I've done. This will influence what I do in the future because of all the new techniques I've learned, all new pieces will be progressively better.

For our one-point perspective, I used a picture of an underground subway train station. I created my art by using two light sources for fresher shadows. My goals were to accurately reflect the different tones of the underground lighting while still getting those necessary highlights that were there. I learned from this that when taking from another source, you can't copy every little detail. This helps to make it your own.

This piece is from a picture I took myself. It's from downtown Galena, where I grew up for the majority of my childhood. My goals for this piece were to recreate this picture in a more simple way. Without all the chaos or it looking too busy. My overall thought over this piece that even though I was rushed through some parts I really felt like I knew what I was doing and what I needed to do. I had a vision in mind for my final product. I wish I could have implemented more human anatomy than just what the original picture included.
